Parts &Functions

The point is used to start cuts.

The tip is used for decorative cuts it's also used for small incisions it's right next the point.

The spine is the top of the knife that keeps the knife balanced.

The cutting edge is the part of the knife that is used for cutting it's the sharper side of the knife.

The Bolster keeps your hand protected from the blade when gripping the knife.

The heel is where the blade stops it's easy to spot it's on the bolster.

The Handle is just to grip the knife.

The rivets just keep the handle together they are embedded into the handle

The tang is the line that is from the blade to the handle to keep them together.

Safety Guidelines

1) NEVER WAIVE A KNIFE AROUND WHILE YOU HAVE IT!!

2) While holding a knife you should always hold it to your side with the pointng down

3) Use a knife only for it's purpose don't use it for other things like cutting boxes.

4) Alert other people when holding or carrying a knife around.

5) You should always cut away from yourself and others.

6) When a knife drops do NOT try to catch it, instead let it fall then get the knife carefully.

7) You should always keep your knives sharpened if not they become dull.

8) Wash sharp tools(knives) always by themselves not along with other dishes.

9) Always throw knives away that have loose blades.

10) ALWAYS keep the knife handle dry, if not you might loose your grip.

11) Always make a claw when your cutting in order to prevent cutting yourself.

12) When cutting anything never get distracted because if you do you have a better chance of getting cut.

13) Use different cutting mats when cutting different things so you dont spread the bacteria.

14) Remember that the knife doesn't cut you, YOU make it cut you.

 

 

 

 

The butt:

The butt is simply just the very end of the knife it doesn't have a function other than being the end.
